Window panes of sealed hotel damaged in stone pelting in Srinagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 6: Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse a violent mob who attacked a hotel on Srinagar-Airport road, alleging that it was being used for flesh trade. Police has last month sealed the hotel and arrested nine people, including four women, who were allegedly involved in the trade. Traffic on the Airport was disrupted after a mob pelted stones on hotel near Iqbal park, damaging its window panes. However, before the mob could set the hotel on fire the hotel, police immediately swung into action and dispersed the mob, who were pelting stones. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them, who later assembled at a distance, shouting slogans against the hotel management. Traffic was diverted through stadium route as there was heavy traffic jam due to disturbances. However, normalcy returned after an hour and traffic resumed. Later, CRPF and state police personnel were deployed near the hotel to thwart any such incident. Police claimed that the hotel was being used for flesh trade and has made some arrests, including the owner of the hotel. However, the kingpin is still at large. Last year a hotel was set on fire by the mob in the same vicinity after members of the Dukhtaran-e-Milat raided the hotel and caught red handed some women and men.
