Amarnath Yatra-2011: High Level Meeting held | Guv reviews first 6 days of Yatra movement | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 6: Concerned to learn about certain difficulties faced by the pilgrims and the general public, particularly in regard to extra heavy traffic on the Highway, the Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of the Amarnath Shrine Board, convened an urgent meeting with Kuldeep Khoda, Director General of Police, B R Sharma, Principal Secretary, Home and R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board. Consequent to extensive discussions, it was decided that the State Police shall enforce immediate action to adequately strengthen the Access Control Barriers/Check Points at all the Camps to ensure smooth and convenient movements of Yatris, in very close coordination with the Shrine Board officials. It was agreed that the CEO shall review the weather situation around 4 a.m. every morning, before issuing directions regarding Camp-wise movements to the Holy Cave and back to the Base Camps. A very close watch shall be kept on the emerging weather pattern and the CEO shall, for the convenience of the Yatris, issue daily weather bulletins, based on the Met Deptt. reports. The Governor directed that all the Agencies involved in the overall management and conduct of the pilgrimage shall ensure close effective coordination in the interest of the safety and security of the Yatris, particularly in regard to the forward movement of the Yatris to the Base Camps and onwards to the Holy Shrine.
