Govt. to monitor implementation of schemes under NRHM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 6: The State Government has decided to lay emphasis on completing all schemes connected with the upgrading of health services in the rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Since the state has received a liberal financial assistance from the centre under National Rural Health Mission senior functionaries of the Department of Health who said to monitoring the pace of these schemes so that all the projects were completed by the end of the current financial year. Official sources said that the Government will be spending Rs 315 crore this financial year on upgrading health care facilities including setting up of 11 mobile medical units in accident prone zones and GPS-guided ambulance service. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 263.32 crore plan under under National Rural Health Mission for year 2011-12 for Jammu and Kashmir while the state government will contribute its share of Rs 30.98 crores, officials said. The state also has Rs 51.65 crore available under the centrally-sponsored scheme from last year's unspent funds, the officials said. They said Rs 5.02 crore will be spent on procurement of mobile medical Units for 11 districts of the state namely Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Leh, Kargil, Kupwara and Bandipora. A large number of road accidents take place in some areas of these districts due to hilly terrain. Many deaths occur due to non-availability of timely medical care to the injured. "Rs 1.18 crore have been sanctioned for establishing two Control Rooms at Jammu and Srinagar, the twin capitals of the state for regulating ambulance services (Dial 108) through Global Positional System (GPS)," the officials said. Among other plans under the NRHM, the state government intends to spend Rs 34 crore for expediting the works in infrastructure development in Community Health Centres (CHC), Primary Health Centres (PHC) and sub-centres in the state, they said.
