| Woman arrested for cheating Anganwari workers | | | Handwara, Nov 26 Police has arrested a 45 years old woman for allegedly cheating poor Anganwari workers in Handwari tehsil of Kupwara district. Sources said that the accused, identified as Parveena D/o Abdul Gani from Anantnag was arrested following a complaint that she was deceiving the poor Anganwari workers of the area and collecting money from them on false promises and claims. “As per the complaint the woman approached number of Anganwari workers of the area and pretending herself to be an office bearer of the union, the woman collected huge amount of money as membership fee”, SP Handwara Haseeb Mughal told News Agency of Kashmir. The lady, he added, had visited several areas including Lolab, Rajwar, Mawar and Magam areas of Kupwara district and collected Rs 100 to Rs 200 from each Anaganwari worker of the areas. “The accused was promising the workers that she is the president of a union constituted to fight for the cause of the Anganwari workers”, Mughal said adding, “However, secretary of the union, who lodged the complaint before us, claimed that she had nothing to do with the association and was just cheating the innocent people.
