CCI demands deferment of new return form | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 6: Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) Jammu strongly condemned the ‘irresponsible’ attitude of the state government towards the problems being faced by the trade and industry of the state on account of introduction of new VAT return forms and annexures. In a statement to the press, CCI said that from the very first day Chamber of Commerce & Industry has been impressing upon the government to put in abeyance the implementation of new return forms as the same are not only very difficult to fill but in preparing other requisites. More time of Traders / Industrialists who are yet to become computer savvy will be consumed there by leaving very little time with them to carry on normal trade activities, the CCI added. CCI, Jammu strongly and vehemently demand that since the first meeting could not transact any business for obvious reasons, the state government should without further delay issue necessary orders for deferring the new return form and re-introducing the old return form so that VAT dealers are able to file their quarterly VAT returns in time. CCI warned the state govt, not to hoodwink the Trade & Industrial fraternity with false promises and instead engage it in serious and purposeful dialogue so that issues which has the potential of snow balling into major controversies can be averted and the cordial relation which Trade & Industry has with the govt, can be further strengthened in taking the state to new heights of prosperity.
