| Police intensifies investigation in Bakra murder case | | Girlfriend, former associates among 7 in police custody | |

While there were unconfirmed reports that the prime accused in the Bakra murder case, Rajesh Dogra alias Mohan, has surrendered before the police, the investigation officers have rounded up at least five persons including the girl friend of the deceased, since last 24 hours.
Sources in the police department disclosed that police has rounded up at least five persons including the girl friend and some of the close associates of the deceased, Sanjay Gupta alias Bakra, who was killed in broad daylight in post Trikuta Nagar locality of Jammu on Saturday morning.
It was reliably learnt that a special team, constituted for the investigation of blind murder case, raided up several places within Jammu city, late last night and made some important arrests.
“Those who have been arrested so far include Sohan Singh alias Sonu of Paloura, Balwant Singh alias Munna resident of Pargwal at present Paloura, Ram Paul resident of Tali Morh, Hoshiar Singh alias Tonny resident of Poloura and Ram Chand of New Plot”, sources said.
“While Sonu and Tony were the former associate of the slain gangster, rest of the arrested persons are believed to be from his rival gang”, added the sources.
The police is also said to have arrested the girl friend of the deceased, who had allegedly called the deceased to the doctor’s clinic, where the murder took place. “Though the slain was a married person, he had recently developed friendship of a girl Monika from Arnia area”, sources told News Agency of Kashmir.
Monica, sources said, approached the police through some family members and expressed her desire to surrender. However, police was tight lipped over the arrest and no one in the department was ready to speak on the matter.
Inspector General of Police, Dr SP Vaid, when contacted admitted to that police has arrested a girl in the case. He, however, added “We can not disclose the name of the girl at this stage as it could be fatal for the investigation”.
The police was also maintaining secrecy with regard to the surrender of prime suspect Mohan. Unconfirmed reports said that Mohan surrendered before the police, last evening. “Even the family members of the accused were not sure about his surrender as police was not allowing any body to meet him”, sources disclosed. |
