| Infiltration bid foiled on LoC, militant killed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 6 : Foiling an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of the state, security forces today shot dead a suspected foreign militant.
Official sources said alert security forces today picked up the movement of heavily armed militants who were trying to infiltrate into the Indian territory from Keran.
When challenged, they opened fire which was returned. In the exchange of fire that ensued, the troops shot dead one militant whose identity was yet to be ascertained.
One AK rifle, one pistol, two rocket launchers, 54 UBGL grenades, 41 handgrenades, 105 rounds of sniper rifle and 10 kilograms of explosive were recovered from the encounter site, the sources added.Sources said troops had further enhanced vigil in the area after this incident. |
