BJP contests Noorani comment on Article 370, Mookherjee? | 'Attempt to distort history by pseudo intellectuals' | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 6 : BJP is again on warpath with the 'Kashmir friendly' civil society activism, this time under attack being AG Noorani, who is considered to be 'expert' on Kashmir . Ironically at a time when the party is celebrating his 111th birth anniversary, Noorani has stirred up a controversy that late Shyama Prasad Mukherjee , veteran leader , had consented Article 370. Noorani has said this in his book which is to be release on July 14. This excerpt , however , he has chosen to 'leak' to the media much before the book gets released . Enraged, BJP says he is trying to seek publicity by presenting 'distorted and imaginary versions' far from facts. BJP in particular and the intellectuals following nationalistic perspective on Kashmir in general have been opposing the viewpoints, suggestions and opinions that emanated during the last two decades of turmoil in Kashmir by the activisits who associate themselves with so called civil society and their liberties and rights. BJP looks at these as separatist friendly gestures and feels such suggestions only go on to mar and dilute Indian stand on every vital aspect of Kashmir. And when AG Noorani writes in his book that Shyama Prasad Mukerjee along with Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru had endorsed Artice 370, BJP feels hurt and offended. The comment is apparently drawing severe cricticism with BJP leaders contesting what Noorani has contended. ?Sharply reacting to reports in a section of press quoting A.G.Noorani's yet-to-be-released latest book to state that Shyama Prasad Mookerjee the BJP J&K Chief Spokesperson and National Executive Member Dr Jitendra Singh has said that this is a deliberate attempt to distort history at the behest of separatist friendly pseudo-secularists and pseudo-intellectuals. Dr Jitendra Singh said the fact is that Shyama Prasad Mookerjee had suggested to Jawaharlal Nehru to put a time-bound rider on Article 370 and clearly specify for how long it was being envisaged. But Nehru rejected this suggestion.Nehru's exact words were ' Yeh Ghiste Ghiste Ghis Jayegi...' meaning thereby that with the passage of time , Article 370 will lose its relevance and Kashmir will be a part of national mainstream in natural course .Nehru's misplaced confidence while saying this emanated from his misplaced faith in Sheikh Abdullah which Nehru was to regret within next six to seven years when he was compelled to order the arrest of Sheikh, reminded Dr Jitendra Singh. It is a part of history, said Dr Jitendra Singh that Mookerjee was opposed to grant of special status to J&K or provision of separate constitution and separate flag for J&K and for this purpose he also laid down his life.Shyama Prasad Mookerjee's nationalist and patriotic credendials do not require a certificate from pseudo-secular pseudo-intellectual adventourists who thrive by abusing the integrity of India and by regularly putting out sensational new unorthodox hypothesis in context ofJammu and Kashmir, asserted Dr Singh. Nehru's blunders in dealing with J&K are too well known ,said Dr Jitendra Singh and said if only Nehru had heeded Mookerjee's advice , the nation would have been saved of its present predicament over Jammu and Kashmir.. Dr Jitendra Singh termed this as intellectual terrorism and alleged it had become a fashion for some to seek media publicity by abusing the integrity of India but reiterated BJP will vehemently any such mischief which tends to weaken the relationship of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of Indian union.
