CS for pacing up execution of migrant’s flats | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 7: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal today pulled up Maytas Rithwik Joint Venture Company for causing delay in the completion of migrant flats at Jagti in Jammu. Chairing Contract Committee meeting here, the Chief Secretary directed the company to pace up the execution and complete the project without any further delay so that the migrant families could be allotted comfortable accommodation at an earliest. Relief Commissioner, Migrants informed the meeting that under the Prime Minister’s Re-construction programme as many as 5242 flats were sanctioned for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants at a cost of Rs 384.64 crore. In the 1st phase as many as 1024 flats were completed in 2008 and allotted to migrant families, he added. Later, it had been decided to construct remaining 4218 flats at a single place at Jagti. So far 3504 flats have been completed, out of which 3072 flats stand allotted. The remaining flats were targeted to be completed by March end this year. The company has failed to meet the deadline and has requested for grant of extension. The Meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Planning and Development B. B. Vyas, Secretary Revenue, Kachoo Isfandyar Khan, Relief Commissioner Migrants, Vinod Koul and other officers.
