NPSU burns effigy of Higher Education Minister | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 7: National Panther Students Union (NPSU) today burnt the effigies of Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik for violations committed in the process of opening of new degree Colleges. Addressing the media persons, Vice president Pushvinder Singh Manhas said that deserving areas have been neglected and preference is given to the constituencies of coalition partners where colleges are announced without any justification or requirement for the same. He condemned the loot of public exchequer for personal motives and political considerations. Manhas said that the minister has not only violated norms, procedures, criteria and guidelines of the government of India and UGC but also had violated the financial code. He alleged the minister for opening college in his native village of Sarh Bagga in contravention of all stipulated criteria and UGC guidelines. He appealed to the students who could not get the admissions in any college to get united and support NPSU so that the voice raise by the NPSU for admission seekers get solid. He warned the government of serious consequences if the academic calendar was not initiated in the CU for the ensuring academic session. He demanded the immediate appointment of Vice-Chancellor and start of regular session from the current year in the CU sanctioned for Jammu.
