| PDP translated its promises into realities: Mufti ‘Mughal road would emerge as road of prosperity’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SURANKOTE (POONCH), July 8:
Asserting that peace and development is the only agenda for his party, former Chief Minister and patron of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that achievements of the previous PDP-Congress government were very much visible on the ground.
He said that previous regime, with the support of the people, had translated its promises into realities.
Addressing a public meeting at Surankote town, Sayeed that construction of the historic Mughal road during his tenure was noticeable achievement of the previous PDP-Congress regime. He observed that Mughal road would be emerged as road of prosperity in this hilly belt because twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri is going to become the gateway of Kashmir after this track would be opened for full-fledged traffic in the days to come. “This road is going to improve economic conditions of the people Poonch and Rajouri”, he said.
He said PDP was committed to revive Jammu and Kashmir's unique distinctiveness in the region and efforts of the party have yielded results as the state as many intra and inter-state routes were opened during previous PDP-Congress regime.
Former Chief Minister said that people of Poonch and Rajouri had suffered a lot in 1947 and 1965 and this region remained backward and underdeveloped due to the wrong policies of successive National Conference regime. “We don’t want to high light what we had done for this region, every thing is visible on the ground”, he said while pointing towards various developmental projects initiated for removing backwardness of this hilly belt during the PDP-Congress regime.
Reiterating resolve of his party to restore lasting peace in the State, he said that PDP has pioneered the agenda of peace and development in the State and that agenda has given encouraging results during PDP-Congress regime.
Pointing towards recently held Panchayat elections, Sayeed said that over-whelming response to PDP in the elections is endorsement of the pro-peace policies being propagated by the party and appreciation of the good work done by the previous PDP-Congress regime in the state.
MLA Mendhar Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan, MLA Darhal Choudhary Zulfikar, Murtaza Khan, MLC, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Hamid Manhas, Mushtaq Bukhari, Imtiyaz Bandey, Dr Mushtaq, Haji Taj Khan, Shahzad Khan, Tazim Dar, Abdul Aziz Mirza and others also addressed the gathering.
