NSF burnt the effigy of Dr. Manmohan Singh | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 8: National Secular Forum today demanded that the state/ Central government should immediately start academic session in Central University of Jammu and order to hold an external audit into the financial bungling in the Jammu University. Activists of National Secular Forum held protest demonstration in the campus and also burnt the effigy Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh in front of Jammu University and also to show there resentment against delay in coming up academic session in Central University of Jammu and no check accountability in functioning of Jammu University. The NSF State President Vikas Sharma said that the session of Jammu Central University has already gone late by two year while the other central universities which were announced in the month of February 2009 have completed their one session. He said that conflicting signals were emanating from different quarters regarding the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of the said Jammu Central University giving rise to further uncertainties and misgivings among the people of Jammu. He further informed that while Kashmir Central University was functional despite adverse security scenario with post graduate courses in ITI, MBA, and English being conducted in full swing and several other post graduate courses like integrated law courses, convergent journalism and PG in Mathematics and Economics having been processed for introduction, the fate of Jammu Central University still hanged in balance. Surjit Choudhary District Chairman said all over the country, the Central universities have started their academic session, whereas the political issue over the Central University of Jammu is still going on. He also appealed to all the MP, MLA and Minister of Jammu to help in functioning of the Centre University in Jammu it is their duty to raise the voice of Jammu and fight for the cause of Jammu. Ravi Choudhary District President NSF, said that Prof Varun Sahni for shielding fraudulent and corrupt officials of the university. “The higher officials of the varsity are living a luxurious life by spending the funds meant for students’ community, while students are being deprived of basic amenities and infrastructure .this is not to be tolerated,” he charged. Among those who participated in the protest were Ravi Choudhary, Parshotam Singh, Shafqat Malik, Sandeep Charak, Sanjay Sharma, Rishi Singh, Manjit Singh, Sanjay Thakur, Sunil Kumar, Rohit, Ajay and others.
