Over a dozen received dog bites in a week at JMC ward no 3 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 8: Irked over the casual approach of Jammu Municipal Corporation in dealing with the menace of stray dogs in the city( there is a spurt growth of stay dogs in Jammu ) , the resident of ward no. 3 of JMC have now filed a Right to Information application with the Public Information Officer of the JMC to know about the policy of the corporation in this regard. Sachin Sharma a resident of ward no 3 and social activist who has filed RTI application on behalf of the residents told that there are more than 500 stray dogs in his ward and over a dozen people including senior citizens and small kids have became prey to these dogs. He said even after making so many complaints to the veterinary wing of the JMC the officers did not pay any heed to their grievances, he said the inhabitants even informed the commissioner and secretary on their mobile phones but they gave only assurance but no action was taken. Sachin told that now the residents have decided to make the JMC accountable through Right to Information Act and in this regard he has submitted an RTI application there. “We will wait for 30 days and if the PIO does not give us complete information in this regard we will file a compliant under section 15 of the J & K RTI Act 2009 with the State Chief Information Commissioner and also write Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister who is incharge of the Urban Development ministry, he said.
