Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered from natural cave in Reasi | | | AJAY SHARMA EARLY TIMES REPORT KATRA, July 08: A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered in a joint police and army operation against militants in the dense Gajna Top Thuroo forests of Arnas, Reasi, here in the wee hours of Friday. The recovered items were to be used by militants against innocent people to spread terror in the remote and inaccessible Arnas areas, police sources said. Acting on a secret information developed by police, a police party of Sarh operation camp and troops launched an operation in Gajna Top Thuroo woods late Thursday night. In the wee hours of today, the search party found out a militant hideout which was carved out in a natural cave, the sources added. Its search led them to the recovery of two pika guns, one AK rifle along with two magazines and 455 rounds, one SLR rifle, one .303 rifle, one RPG, 25 pika rounds, one Chinese grenade, 75 rounds of 7.62mm, eight rifle grenades, two HE-36 grenades, 60 rounds of Chinese pistol , one I-com wireless set, 25 detonators, eight batteries used in triggering IED blasts and one binocular. The hideout was destroyed by the jawans before returning to their base camp
in the area along with the seized arms and ammunition. Sources said the recovery of weapons and busting of hideout had given a
serious set back to the nefarious designs of militants. A massive operation was on in the area in search for the militants, if any, the
sources added. It was believed that the militants had fled the area after sighting security
forces.
