Panchayats to further add to development, good-governance: Sham

JAMMU, July 8:
Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma, today called upon Sarpanches and Panches and the people at large to join hands for ensuring lasting peace and strengthening communal harmony and brotherhood in J&K which is imperative for transforming development profile of the state.
Minister was addressing at the monthly review meeting at Akhnoor which is among others attended by large gathering of Sarpanches and Panches.
Sham said that newly elected panchayats have given rise to a new category of politicians and asked the Sarpanchs and Panchs to serve the society with utmost zeal and dedication to write a new chapter in the socio-economic and political spectrum of the state.
He said that the people have exhibited their firm faith in their respective newly elected panchayat representatives by exercising their franchise to them so now it becomes their official and moral duty as well to serve their areas in a more accountable and transparent manner. He asked them to be sincere, honest and prompt to public needs and show quick response to settle issues at panchayat level. He said that the people will judge you on your performance and your success lies in public satisfaction about your conduct and work done.
He said that amelioration of the weaker sections and families living Below Poverty Line is the priority of the government and the fresh survey is being conducted in a transparent manner.
The Minister also stressed upon the Sarpanches and Panches to ensure that maximum development works should be done under rural development scheme, MNERGA.
Sham asked the concerned SDM and local Tehsildar to give a full detail of beneficiaries under BPL categories for preparation of their kaccha kotha to pacca under Indira Awas Yojna within a week’s time. He said that 306 handicapped cases will be settled and provided various benefits as early as possible.
