He added that Rajnath Singh had written three letters to PM Manmohan Singh citing the difficulties faced by the Kargil people regarding the link road between Kargil and Leh through Zojilla Pass. Briefing the letter, Singh said that Rajnath Singh has clearly indicated in the letter about the condition of Kargil and their needs by touring Leh and Kargil with other core members including Ravi Shanker Prasad, Syed Shah Nawaz Hussain, Maya Singh and Dr. J.K. Jain.. He said that BJP demanded for a commercial air service airport, improvement in telephone network, for construction of an all-weather road along the gorges of Zanskar river from Leh to Manali which was recommended way back in 1999 in the PM letter. Singh said that these projects are also vital from strategic point of view at a time when China is engaged in constructing roads along the Indian borders. He added that although the centre has announced a package of more than 100 crores for relief and rehabilitation of the cloud burst victims of 2010 but large number of deputations meeting the BJP Study Group complained of either non-receipt of relief or discrimination in distribution of relief.
