Bhalla distributes Rs 14 lakh financial assistance among 14 homeless families | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 9: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla distributed Rs. 14 lakh cheques as financial assistance to 14 homeless state subject urban poor of Bahu Fort, Digiana and Bhour Camp under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) here today. Addressing the gathering, Raman Bhalla said that the government is making all out efforts to improve living standard of poor sections of the State adding that several welfare schemes have been launched to raise their socio economic condition. He said adequate financial assistance is being provided to the homeless under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in rural areas and Basic Services to Urban Poor and other schemes in urban centers. The Minister informed that Rs 30 lakh have already been distributed among 30 State Subject homeless urban poor of his constituency for construction of their dwelling units under Basic Services to Urban Poor Scheme (BSUP). He appealed the left out State Subject poor lot to approach JMC authorities and ful-fill all the coda formalities so that the relief under BSUP could be disbursed among them. He said under BSUP would get Rs 3.12 lakh in three installments which include Rs 1 lakh each as second installment and Rs 1.12 lakh as third installment.Bhalla impressed upon the officers to maintain transparency in the distribution of central and state financial assistance among the needy, besides ensuring its timely disbursement among them. He said that Government is keen to address weaker section concerns on priority and the administrative machinery needs to gear up for timely redressal of the grievances of the people. He said that providing succor and basic amenities to the people is the top-most priority of the present government.
