Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a Kavi Sammelen in the memory of late Googa Ram Sathi, an eminent poet at his native village, Jourian in Akhnoor tehsil. A large number of poets, students of Government Girls High School and prominent persons of the area participated. Headmaster of GGHS Jourian Mr Bodh Raj Sharma presided over the function.
While speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy Jammu, Mr. T. R. Sharma threw light on the contribution made by late Googa Ram Sathi in the field of Dogri literature. He exhorted the Dogri writers present on the occasion to follow his footprints and work for widening the sphere of literary activities in the area by involving budding poets. He also highlighted various schemes launched by the Academy for school children like children music and painting competitions. He called upon the younger generation to come forward and participate in various literary and cultural activities to strengthen Dogri language and its heritage.
The Headmaster of the school in his address appreciated the efforts of Cultural Academy for organizing function in border area and urged for conducting such programmes in future also.
The poets who recited their poetry amongst others were Bhim Sen Karsan, Devinder Pal Jinder, Dr. Krishan Lal, Nirmal Kumar, Kewal Krishan Kewal, Om Parkash Deepak, Indu Bhushan Bali, Mohan Lal, Roshan Lal Bral, Gaar Singh Gaar, Harbans Lal Harsh, Anjoo Sharma and Bandana.
