Relief Commissioner detects fraudulent ration cards, orders probe

JAMMU, JULY 10-During the raids conducted in various zones by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), Mr Vinod Kaul it was found that one person namely Mr Shadi Lal Pandita s/o Mr Sarvanand Pandita R/o Nagrota Camp A/P to Jagti has obtained migrant ration cards in different zones on same names for himself and other family members fraudulently. He has concealed the information while obtaining such ratio card and has been availing this facility fro more than a decade. The amount drawn by him fraudulently on different names is being calculated which will be running in lakhs and also it is being ascertained that Shadi Lal Pandita who is presently residing in Jagti township has deceived the department and concealed the information while obtaining such cards.
Mr Shadi Lal Pandita S/o Mr Sarvanand is registered with Nagorta-A for five souls and he has obtained fraudulently another card for himself from zone Janipur-B on the name of Shanti Lal Pandita S/o Soom Nath. Also his wife is figuring in his ration card which has been issued by Nagrota camp and she has also fraudulently managed another card in the name of Lalita Dhar w/o S L Dhar from zone Janipur-A for four souls.
So far during the preliminary investigation made in few zones it has already been established that the family which includes his two brothers have managed fraudulently eight ration cards and the number of souls indicated are repeated in most of the ration cards or the persons who are shown in the ration cards as dependents do not exist.
The Relief Organization has decided to refer the matter to crime branch for carrying thorough investigation and in the meantime the facilities being provided to the family are being suspended for the time being. The amount drawn fraudulently by Mr Shadi Lal Pandita and other members is being worked out and necessary process for recovery shall be made in due course of time.
