PSC should work with full responsibility: Tarigami | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JULY 11- House Panel on Subordinate Legislation of Legislative Assembly has called upon civil society to record their opinion about the selection criterion in vogue for appointment of gazetted cadre officers including doctors and lecturers. The committee, which met here today under the Chairmanship of MLA Kulgam Mr M. Y. Tarigami had a threadbare discussion on the working of Public Service Commission with special focus on the selection criteria. The committee felt the need to modify selection criterion enabling to appoint gazetted cadre officials of high calibre and integrity in a more transparent and clean manner. It was observed that selection procedures especially viva-voice/interviews need to be refashioned in such a way as would facilitate highly talented and meritorious aspirants to qualify for gazetted services. Speaking on the occasion, Tarigami said PSC is one of the most important institution vested with plenary powers to appoint officials at vital positions in administration and other services. “It is imperative that it works with full responsibility as such”, he added. Legislators, Mr Aijaz Ahmad Jan, MAbdul Gaffar Sofi, Mr Lal Chand, Mr Baldev Raj and MZulfikar Ali attended the meeting. No.PR/DI/2011/2581/ab/pk/gsj Monday, July 11, 2011
