Inculcate moral values with academic excellence: Omar to students | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 11: Stating that future possesses tremendous challenges for students, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today advised them to inculcate moral values of life along with achieving excellence in academics. “You have to face the tests of time as such you should be courageous, brave and educationally up to the mark to shoulder responsibilities and brave the difficulties”, he told them asking to devote fullest attention towards studies. Addressing the students of Madr-e-Meharban Public School, Gulab Bagh near here, at a function organized to observe 11th death anniversary of Akbar Jahan, popularly known as Madr-e-Meharban, the Chief Minister said that educational facilities to the children of drown trodden and weaker sections of the society is a stupendous task and government would render every help to the organizations and societies working for this noble cause. The school which is run by the Madr-e-Meharban Welfare Society provides free education to the children of weaker sections and tribals. It is a part of the Miskeen Bagh Women Welfare Centre founded by Akbar Jahan. Paying rich tributes to Madr-e-Meharban, the Chief Minister reminded the students and the audience present on the occasion of the high spirit and dedication of Akbar Jahan for the welfare of public especially belonging to down trodden and women and children categories. “It was the strong courage and braveness of Madr-e-Meharban which gave strength to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to carry forward his mission successfully”, he said adding that Madr-e-Meharban stood by her husband through thick and thin and supported his struggle and led the nation when Sheikh Sahib was in jail. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that children are future of the country and their proper nurturing is the earnest duty of all of us. Earlier, Omar Abdullah and Dr. Farooq Abdullah visited the Mazar of Begum Akbar Jahan and offered Fateh amongst a large number of people including Ministers, legislators, political activists and general public. They also laid floral wreath on the graves of Madr-e-Meharban and Sher-e-Kashmir.
