World Population Day observed at Udhampur | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, JULY 11-World Population Day observed at Udhampur under the theme “Chhota Parivar: Sampoor vikas”. The main function was organized by District Health Society Udhampur in the premises of District Hospital Udhampur here today. MLA, Udhampur Mr Balant Singh Mankotia was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anil Amla, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Santosh Sharma, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Chander Parkash,District health Officer Udhampur, Block Medical Officers of various blocks, Multi Health Workers and ASHAs were present on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion the MLA stated that World Population Day is observed in order to raise awareness on global population issues, such as to stabilize the population or to lower the population growth. He said that this event is a vehicle to build awareness in population issues and the impact they have on development and the environment. Mr. Mankotia said that the family planning is the need of the hour, increase in population would also create hurdles in the progress and development of the country, he added. He also asked to organize maximum awareness camps in the far flung area to educate the locals regarding the health care and their role in controlling the increasing population of the country. The Chief Medical Officer while speaking on the occasion said that different activities have been designed to aware the general masses about the subject. He also apprised that different awareness camps, rallies, debates, symposia and door to door fortnightly campaign is being organized to sensitized the common masses to control the increasing population.
