Legal Metrology deptt books 23 traders

EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR , JULY 11- Caring out its action against the traders cheating consumers especially pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra, a joint inspection team of the legal Metrology headed by Assistant Commissioner, Mrs Sunita Sharma conducted extensive checking of the commercial establishments along the National Highway at Chopra Shop, Udhampur city, Chenani, Kud and Patnitop. The commercial establishments inspected included petrol pumps, general store, sweetshops, fruit and vegetable shops, bars and restaurants.
12 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of Weights and Measures Laws. A fine of Rs. 15,500 was imposed on the defaulters.
It is pertinent to mention here that this month, till date 23 traders have been booked by the Legal Metrology Department and composition sum of Rs. 21,500 had been realized.
