JAMMU, JULY 11-Almost all the maintenance divisions of PDD have swung into action to check illegal connection and power theft cases. An inspection team has also been constituted by the directorate in order to carry out on the spot inspections to mitigate the complaints of the public and to book those people/violators who are indulged in unfair means/direct hooking/power theft because this has become the major hindrance in supplying quality and uninterrupted power supply to the general public.
The team inspected various installations include domestic area of Lakshmi Nagar, Muthi, Ganeshuchak area, Commercial Establishments of Transport Nagar, yard-4 & 6, Commercial Establishments of Rehari Chungi, BC Road area.
During these inspections the team inspected a total 164 of installations out of which 91 violations have been detected. The penalties to tune of Rs.12 lakh as per the law have been imposed on the violators and the illegal connections have also been disconnected.
The public in general is advised to use the power judiciously, avoid illegal hooking pay electric bills in time and regularize the load as per their consumption.
The drive to check power theft will continue and appropriate legal action shall be initiated against the violators, for which the general public should also come forward in nominating the violators thereby helping the PDD in eradicating the menace of power theft.
Appeal to general public/owner of commercial establishment/industrial units to use the power judiciously and regularize the load as per their consumption to avoid any inconvenience on being caught involved in theft of power. It is reiterated that now on consumers using illegal connections, engaged in power theft and those who might have tempered the meter shall not only be fined and booked under the law but their names shall also be published in daily newspapers of Jammu.
Come forward and cooperate with PDD to provide quality/un-interrupted power supply to the general public.
