Wake up call for NC Mader-e-Meharbaan anniversary goes un-noticed | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 11: Kashmir has changed. this was proved yet again today. The death anniversary of Begum Akber Jehan popularly known as Mader-e-Meharbaan (Kind mother) up to late 80s went un-noticed. Barring few official functions, nothing happened in the Valley. When Sher-e-Kashmir passed away around one million people participated in his funeral. At least five persons got killed in stampedes at various places enroute the final abode of the `beloved' leader at Hazratbal. Kashmiris were in shock. they mourned the death for several days aand life came to a standstill int he Valley. Eleven years ago, his wife Mader-e-Meherbaan passed away on July 11. A few people attended her funeral. Today the scene was no different at the Hazratbal graveyard. A few persons were seen reciting verses from Quran. Some Natioanal Conference wokers also arrived to pay tributes to the memory of the ladyn who they believe stood by Sher-e-Kashmir through thick and thin. The National Conference, some seniors members of the organization believe, cannot escape responsibility for fading popularity of the Sheikh family and the organization as well. "This is not good for the party. If Sheikh family loses its importance, the party cannot survive", they said. The apprehensions of the senior members are not totally unfounded. The National Conference has been losing ground in Kashmir valley especially in South Kashmir since 2002. The organization has not don e well in Jammu and Ladakh during the past elections. The organization has to wake up now, believe the seniors. "If people ignore the anniversary of Mader-e-Meherbaan, the organization has to do some damage control before it ias too late."
t co-operating with Investigating Officer and that is why the Trial Court has rejected the application. The HC granted interim conditional bail upto July 19, 2011 with the direction that in case petitioner makes any disclosure statement, he shall deemed to be in police custody and directed AAG to file objection and police report by or before July 19, 2011. It is worth mentioning here that Ejaz Iqbal allegedly involved in a corruption case while he was posted as MD State Financial Corporation appears to have floated the orders of the High Court dated September 12, 2006 where under it was required that minimum reserve price should be indicated in auction notice but this direction appears to have been breached without any plausible reason. It is also alleged that petitioner has tempered the evaluation report of one of the evaluators to facilitate undue benefit to the beneficiaries. This is also revealed that one of the beneficiaries is in close association with family of petitioner and is alleged acting under the command of petitioner. JNF JNF/JULY/11/2011/1
