BJP to observe “Mass Awareness Month’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 12: BJP will observe “Mass Awareness Month” from July 25 to August 25 over the issues of Corruption, price rise and black money. District level programmes throughout the state under this campaign will be held where a national leader will also reach at each district head quarter to boost the morale of the party activists besides presenting the real picture of Congress-led UPA and knee deep involvement of its ministers. This was disclosed by BJP state President Shamsher Singh Manhas while discussing the mode of the scheduled programmes with party national executive member & chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh and general secretaries Satish Sharma, Sat Sharma and Usha Choudhary at party headquarters on Tuesday. Manhas, soon after his return from New Delhi where he had day long meeting with the central leadership about the political scenario in the state, also chaired meetings of senior leaders and district presidents at Akhnoor, Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts and briefed them about this month long campaign. He discussed modalities for setting up of district offices, Aajiwan Sehyog Nidhi and organising Prashikshan Varg in the near future in all the districts. The BJP Chief, while addressing these meetings at Akhnoor, Jammu, Kathua and Samba, said that the party at the national level has finalized one month calendar for massive programmes in all the districts of J&K between July 25 and August 25. In each of such programmes the party will depute a national leader. Although the focus in these programmes will be on the burning issues like corruption, black money and price rise, the party will also felicitate the recently elected Sarpanches and Panches in their respective districts. Manhas said that the party has ben continuously organizing programmes by holding protests, dharnas and organising meetings, over the said issues but to further intensify it we have decided for one month campaign. The BJP has always been demanding the implementation 73rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution before holding the panchayat elections so that the funds could reach the grassroots and local people are able to decide about the developmental works. The real motive of strengthening the democracy will not be achieved as the election has been held without implementing amendment, Manhas said and added that the party will also stress for implementartion of 73rd Amendment in its scheduled programmes. Manhas also expressed concern over the pick and choose policy in extending benefits of BPL, social welfare schemes meant for widows, old aged citizens and handicapped people in the state. He said while the real deserving people are made to run from pillar to post for months together but those having links with the leaders of Congress and NC get favours and preferential treatment by the concerned departments. Ashok Khajuria, Chander Prakash Ganga, Usha Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Rajiv Jasrotia, Harinder Gupta, Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Sukhnandan Kumar, Rajesh Gupta, Chaggar Singh, Suraj Padha, Keshav Dutt, Karan Singh, Sanjiv Sharma were present in the meetings held in said districts.
