| Natwar calls on friend Kasuri, discusses peace process | | |

Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri today met "old friend" former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh here and discussed the current state of Indo-Pak peace process and how to take it forward.
Both the leaders, who are old friends, said the peace process and the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between the neighbours must continue to promote bilateral relations.
"We discussed the ways and means through which the peace process could be promoted including the Confidence Building Measures. Pakistan takes the process seriously," Kasuri said after the nearly one-and-a-half-hour long breakfast meeting.
Describing Singh as an "old friend" with whom he had interacted "when things were difficult", Kasuri said "we have been working together to promote peace between Pakistan and India."
He, however, refused to say anything on Singh's exit from the Ministry last year over the Volcker report controversy.
"There will be ups and downs in politics, but human relations must survive. I don't wish to comment on the internal affairs of India. He (Singh) was a friend and he will remain a friend," he said.
Singh, on the other hand, sought to paint an optimistic picture when asked how he felt looking back. "I must not look back. Life is too short for that...I will look to the future and look it with with hope and not despair," he said.
"Diplomacy does not provide salvation, but provides hope," he added.
