CEO fails to deliver amount, authorities approaches SBI for re-validation
Rs 11 lakh Students cheques turn invalid

Rajouri, July 12: Although Central Government had provided 230 cheques for Rs 11.50 lakh to the student scientist of Rajouri district in September 2010, education department Rajouri failed to deliver this amount to the student which has resulted in invalidation of the cheques.
Sources in District Institute of Education Rajouri said that Ministry of Science and Technology of Government of India had given Rs 11.50 lakh for 230 student scientist of district Rajouri for honoring them with Science Inspire Award but these cheques remained in the cup boards of Chief Education Officer for many months and with the result of delay in distribution, all the cheques have turned invalid.
Sources said that GoI had given Rs 5000 cheque to each student for making a science model after which District Institute of Education Rajouri had to hold Science Exhibition in which these model were have to be displayed but neither any model was prepared nor any science exhibition was held in district Rajouri for the same purpose.
These awards are designed by the GoI for creating interest of science among the kids but due to non performance and delay in works by the education department Rajouri, these cheques could not reach these students.
As these cheques were given to CEO office Rajouri whereas Exhibition had to be held by DIET Rajouri after these cheques delivered to these students but when the cheques were not delivered, DIET could not hold this programme. Principal of DIET admitted that the validity of these cheques have expired but education authorities have approached State Bank for re-validation. He admitted that they could not hold Science Exhibition because no student came with them with model. "When these students did not received money, they did not make any model and thus we cannot hold any programme", he added.
