Martyrs aroused feelings, awareness among Kashmiris: Soz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): Former Union Minister and President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz Wednesday said that martyrs who sacrificed their lives this day in 1931 had aroused feelings and awareness among Kashmiris for their rights. Paying tributes to the martyrs, he said that every section of the society must remember martyrs who laid their ‘sacred lives’. “It is the duty of the every segment of society to commemorate the sacred sacrifices of these great martyrs,” he said. Several other Congress leaders paid homage to the martyrs at Mazar-i-Shuhda (Martyrs Graveyard) at Khawaja Bazar here and offered floral tributes. Prof. Soz, Minister of Medical Education, R.S. Chib, G R Kar, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Abdul Majid Padder, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Mohammad Anwar Bhat, Farooq Andrabi, Mohd, Sultan Mundoo, Habibullah Hamdani, Ghulam Mohammad Shiekh, Abdul Gani Khan, Aftab Ahmad Beigh, Shameema Raina and Shameema Sopori also paid floral tributes. Prof. Soz and other leaders paid obeisance at Dargah of Khawaja Naqasband Sahib (RA) and at the Ziyarat of Hazrat Peer Dastageer Sahib (RA) Khanyar. He called on Dr. Syed Abdul Rahim who has been ailing for some time. He also met other members of the family. On this occasion Soz told the gathering that the dynasty of late Syed Mohammad Maqbool Shah Geelani had rendered great service to people. “He happened to be Sajada-i Nisheen of the Dargah at Khanyar and has rendered great services to the people of Kashmir which can never be forgotten,” he said.
