Bhalla lays foundation of Rs. 2.96 cr tube well at Babliana | Announces Rs. 13 lakh for passenger Sheds | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JULY 13- Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla today laid foundation of 25000 gallon discharge capacity tube well at Ward No.1 in Babliana village. On its completion, the upcoming Water scheme would meet the drinking water requirements of Babliana, Ajeet Nagar, M K Nagar, Jeevan Nagar, Narwal Pain and Upper Gaddigarh. Interacting with the people, Bhalla informed that the Water Scheme, estimated to cost Rs. 2.96 crore, would include construction of 200 meter deep drill tube well, Over Head Tank, Ground Water Storage Reservoir besides laying of water supply pipes in the uncovered areas of these localities. He asked the Economic Reconstruction Agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame so that the people could get relief from water scarcity. The Minister said the Government is making all out efforts to provide adequate drinking water, besides irrigation facilities to the people across the State adding there is no shortage of funds in these sectors. He said directions have been issued to the concerned to dig tube wells and hand pumps in water scarcity hit areas of the State. He appealed the people to use drinking water judiciously adding that the water discharge is decreasing day by day due to prolonged dry spells and climatic changes. Bhalla informed the locals that the Government has approved Rs. 86 lakh for construction of one more 150 gallon storage capacity Over Head Tank and laying of water supply pipes at Babliana, Jeevan Nagal and its adjoining villages. Responding to the locals demand, the Minister announced Rs. 13 lakh for construction of two passenger sheds on proposed sites at Jeevan Nagar. He asked the PHE authorities to also dig hand pumps near the sheds for the benefit of the passengers. Earlier, at Nanak Nagar Sector-9, Mr. Bhalla asked the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. S C Sawhney to prepare a detailed project report for raising the level of local nallah slab to maintain smooth flow of nallah water adding recently due to heavy rains, the foul water of nallah entered into houses located in its vicinity causing lot of damages to the household items. At Rani Talab in Digiana, the Minister asked the JMC to prepare an estimate for construction of bathing ghat, including parking slot on available space in the area and submit the same for funding so that the construction of the projects could be started for the benefit of the people. At Dasmash Nagar and Gangyal, Mr. Bhalla asked the JMC to immediately restore the breach in the local nallah which was damaged due to flash flood last year during rainy season. He asked to remove garbage from the choked portion of the nallah to avid any inconvenience to the people during rainy season. At Shanker Colony in Gangyal, the Minister took serious note on the encroachment of nallah land and asked the JMC to immediately evict the encroachment after demarcation of State land from Revenue authorities. He found that the encroachment had reduced the nallah portion to half and is a sources of nuisance for the locals. Mr. Bhalla asked the JMC to prepare estimates for the construction of retaining walls of the nallah and submit the same for funding. Later, at Kacha Talab in Bahu Fort, the Minister inspected the site for construction of recreational park. He asked the JMC and UEED to prepare estimates to develop the space on modern lines.
