JKVM called on people to reorganize communal agenda of | | |
Early Times Report JAMMU, July 13: Decrying July 13 as the Black Day in the history of the State, Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) in an interactive meeting held at Shardha Bhawan called on the people of the state to recognize the communal agenda of the July13, 1931. The meeting was among others addressed by Kashmiri Lal Bhat, M L Bhat, M M Thaploo, Chand ji Pandita, P L Bhat, M L Raina, R L Wazir, B L Dhar Prof. Ramesh Bhat, Pran Nath general secretary JKVM, Dr. R L Bhat National Vice President JKVM, H L Bhat National General Secretary JKVM and B L Bhat state president JKVM. The meeting was presided over by Dr. A N Pandita Chairman Pt. Prem Nath Memorial Trust. The participants took stock of the current situation in Kashmir and the challenges before the Displaced Hindus of Kashmir who were the primary targets of the rioters of 1931. Speaking on the occasion Dr. R L Bhat pointed to the fact that the events preceding the communal riots of 13th July 1931 and the events that occurred on the Black Day itself 80 years ago were communal in character and directed against the Maharaja for not for his being a dictator but for being a Hindu. The question of the effacement and encroachment of shrines and temples, the change of names of the cultural icons of Kashmir were also discussed at length. Speaking on the occasion . Kashmiri Lal Bhat said the undue delay in passage of the temple and shrine bill appeared to be a deliberate tactics to encourage the desecration of the Hindu Shrines in Kashmir.
