Fate is not benevolent on every one. Some people struggle hard throughout their life, and at an old age when they require love, affection and care, they are forced to face hardships some due to the negligent approach of the government and other due to the dwindling relationships .
One such example is a warrior and strong Jawan of Indian Army Chuni Lal who fought 1947 war with Pakistan Army now is struggling for his pension in his Mahala Sunderbani as his pension has been stopped for the last 4 months.
Where at one end he is facing the heat of the government’s apathy, there only his famil and relatives have also abandoned him. His two sons are living separately and now the daughter of this Jawan is looking after him in the house.
Chuni Lal son of Bisakhi Ram, a Jawan in 4 JAK LI was recruited in the Indian Army before partition in 1941. He has witnessed the freedom struggle of 1947 besides he himself has fought war with the Pakistani Army in 1947.
In his stammering voice, narrating the incidences of partition he says, “ Indian Army had given befitting reply to Pakistani Army attack of 1947 and it was a great day for us also as we were declared winners and Pakistani army as loser”.
At 85, Chuni Lal is living an abandoned life with no care taker at this age. His family has left him and now one of his daughter’s is looking after him.
His financial position has turned grim and he is unable to receive his pension from bank for the last 4 months.
“I could not receive pension for four months because I cannot stand in queue in the Bank to get the pension. It is better to die than to receive such pension”, he said adding that if the department deliver his pension at home, he will be happy to receive it.
