The Rally was inaugurated by Briagdier Yogendra Dimri, Commander Kalidhar Brigade. In his inaugural remarks, the Cdr reiterated the commitment of the Crossed Swords Division towards supporting welfare schemes and measures for improvement and upliftment of the ex-Servicemen and Veer Narees of the region. The rally was attended by approx 450 ex-servicemen and 18 Veer Narees. In attendance at the Rally were representatives from Zila Sainik Kalyan Board, Defence Pension Disbursement Officer, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Army Placement Cell and the Recruiting Office to interact with the ex-Servicemen. The civil administration set up a grievance cell to take stock of challenges being faced by the ex-servicemen and to render solutions. The Rally aimed at acquainting the ex-servicemen with various schemes and plans for enhancing their quality of life even after retirement. Ex Hav Vaishno Dass, chairman ex-servicemen, Sunderbani said, “We are grateful to the Kalidhar Brigade for organising the ex-servicemen Rally every year. Such rallies provide us a platform to put forth the challenges being faced by the veterans who had given precious moments of their lives in the service of the nation.” Sub Chunni Lal (retired) of 3 JAK LI from Vill Banpuri said, ’I am thankful to the Army for conducting the Ex-Servicemen Rally. On such occasions, retired personnel like me get an opportunity to interact freely and openly with the senior Army officials. I am happy to see the healthy and interactive environment at the Rally.’ At the end of the rally, the Chief Guest Brig Dimri felicitated the Veer Narees and physically disabled ex-Servicemen. The Rally culminated with an interaction over lunch organised in the honour of the ex-servicemen.
