EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 13: The Joint Forum of Kashmiri Pandit(KP) organisations held a demonstration today and marched towards UNO office at Jammu to register their protest on Black Day, which is being observed on 13th July every year. The leaders of Kashmiri Pandits, A.N Vaishnavi, President-ASKPC, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President-Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secretary-ASKPC, D.N Kissu, Chairman, NCMCC, R.K.Raina, Sr. Vice President-ASKPC, Virender Raina,National Spokesperson of the Joint Forum and Sardar Prem Singh, President-KSDF led the demonstrators on the occasion.
Phoola Kaul, T.N.Kaul and Sameer Bhat participated among others in the demonstration.
Vaishnavi, said that the displaced Kashmiri Pandits have been suffering for the last twenty one years. Despite repeated pleas of Kashmir Pandits, it has not been declared as Internally Displaced community. We demand that the members of the Kashmiri Pandit community be recognized as IDPs and their issues be settled as per the International covenants applicable to IDPs. The mindset of the Interlocutors is at complete variance with the nationalist point of view on Kashmir issue. The Interlocutors, by their uncalled for actions, are creating a very unpalatable situation for the nationalist elements in the J&K state which required condemnation.
Chrungoo, said that this day reminds the Kashmiri Pandit community of the attempt of genocide that was committed against it in the valley of Kashmir in 1931. A design to ethnically cleanse Kashmir of its minorities was hatched at the behest of the communal forces. There was always a historical intent to expel the Hindu minorities in the valley and 1931 incidents are a testimony to this fact of history. Kashmiri Pandits have an inalienable right over the land of Kashmir and their first and natural claim on its territory cannot be bartered away under any circumstances.
Chatta, said that mere ‘economic or employment packages’ cannot pave way for Kashmiri Hindu resettlement in the valley. Unless geo-political aspirations of the community are met in the valley, there can be no possibility of return. The resettlement is to be seen in the context of genocide and ethnic cleansing of the community in the valley. The State of Pakistan continues to abet terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and the response of the government of India is weak. We demand that Pakistan be declared a terrorist nation. We also welcome the stoppage of Military aid to Pakistan by the United States.
