HIGH ALERT SOUNDED IN KATRA FOLLOWING MUMBAI TERROR ATTACKS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 13 : A precautionary high alert has been sounded across Katra base camp and along the 13 km track, connecting the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno devi following series of blasts in Mumbai on late Wednesday evening.
According to official sources, security officials on thursday decided to upgrade the security cover for the pilgrims in the wake of fresh terrorist strike across busy market places in Mumbai.
Additional SP Katra Mohan Lal said, "we have reviewed the security at Katra base camp and decided to strengthen the security set-up in the entire route from the the base camp at Katra to the shrine".
He said CRPF jawans manning the security pickets along Trikutha hills have been directed to exercise extra vigil and keep a hawks eye on the activities of the suspicious people.
We have already deployed adequate strength of security forces to ensure safety of the pilgrims, he added.
He said round-the-clock surveillance and patrolling of all high-altitude places in Katra town as well as those enroute to the shrine would be intensified and multiple check points would be set up to prevent any militant attack. Meanwhile in Jammu security nakas have come up across the old city area to regulate the movement of vehicles. Intensive checking of public transport vehicles and random checking of vehicles across the city is also being carried out as part of the general alert in view of the fresh terror strikes.The security apparatus has been beefed up at the Jammu bus stand and railway station areas to prevent any militant strike.
