7/14/2011 11:03:37 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 14: Department of Prisons in collabaration with Amateur theatre group organized a 15 day theatre workshop with the inmates of Kot Bhalwal jail.
The workshop was conducted by Ifra Mushtaq Kak and workshop that culminated today with a performance of "self stories" performed by inmates of Kot Bhalwal jail. The project was designed and directed by Ifra Mushtaq Kak and assisted by Mohit Chib, Sandeep Verma and Junaid under the able guidance of Director Amateur theatre group Mushtaq Kak, former director Sri Ram Centre For Performing Arts,New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion project director Ifra Mushtaq Kak said that finding the truth of the feelings on the stage is an internal justification of each stage form of behaviour.
These "self stories " she said were part of a process of writing and personalizing the words. The participants shared their own experience,a story that they really know, with a view to instill in them a feeling of honesty, organic truth and ease. The self stories were chosen apart from the cases of the participants.
She said reason for devising this project was that instead of taking a written text, she wanted them to experience the realization of their own inner selves,as that is the most essential weapon in human's armory. It represents the awakening and manifestation of latent human potentialities lurking beneath their apparent persona.
Amateur theatre group specially thanked M.A Anjum,Inspector General of Police(Prison) for allowing and taking initiative and SSP Rajni Sehgal as without her support and co operation "self stories " with the inmates of jail could not have been possible as she believed in taking a constructive step towards the reformation of inmates and a message to accept these inmates after their release as reformed human beings.
Inmates who performed include Vishal Gandotra,Price Pal singh,Sajid Riyaz Bhatt,Harpreet Singh,Pervez Chowdhary,Ramesh Thakur,Suram Chand,Darshan Gill, ,Koshal Singh,Ram Pal,Rattan Chand,Jamshed Iqbal,Satish Kumar,Zafar Iqbal,Rajinder Kumar,Akhter Husain,Farooq Ahmed,Dr Moiuddin and Vijay Kumar.
