RR-19 brings a glimmer of hope to Wadwan Saahil Suhail

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Anantnag, July 15: Wardwan , a beautiful hamlet in district Kishtwar is connected to rest of the state via district Anantnag. The hamlet is plagued by problems ranging from shortage of essential commodities to inefficient healthcare.
Commenting upon the indifference of the authorities some confused locals have a question. Is this hamlet a part of Jammu Kashmir?
People in general and youth in particular are confused with ‘step-mother behavior’ of the state government to the naturally fertile and beautiful area of Kishtwar.
Firdous Ahmad Khanday, who on Friday left the valley for a 12 days tour to Kolkata for first time in his life had a pleasant smile to offer to his friends and relatives who had come to see him off.
He shared the woes of the hamlet with the scribes who were also present. He complained of non-availability of lecturers in his recently elevated higher secondary school where he is a student of 10th standard.
He said Medical and Non-Medical streams were introduced in the school for the first time. But lack of teachers had forced most of the students to opt for Arts stream.
Another student Javid Ahmad had a similar story to tell. “I and my friends are confused. We are not sure whether our area is a part Jammu and Kashmir or not because the state government seems in no mood to solve our problems”, he said.
Javid said that in the month of May some lectures from Kishtwar and Badarwah joined our Higher Secondary School but they never turned up for their duties.
The students thanked the Army for taking them outside. “The army has provided us an opportunity to see the Jawahar Tunnel for the first time”, some of them said.
The students have plans to urge the army to open a school in the hamlet.
Speaking on the occasion, Brig. Sanjay Gupta, said the objective of the tour is to educate the children about the vast cultural diversity, mutual co-existence and rapid progress made by the nation.
He urged the students to avail the opportunity and pen down whatever they see during the tour.
Commanding Officer, 19RR, Ail Maini told Early Times that the students will get a chance to visit places of educational interest.
It is worth mentioning here that 19RR is continuously contributing in Wadwan by conducting Free Medical Camps, constructing bridges and foot bridges etc for the development of the area.
