Public darbar held at Keerian, people raised various issues

KATHUA, July 15: District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Zahida Khan convened a public darbar at village Keerian.
Chief Planning Officer, Kathua, Assistant Commissioner, Development, CMO, CEO, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, and other district officers along with their tehsil/ Block and zonal level officers were present in the camp.
The people of Keerian Gandyal projected various demands and problems before the district administration which were mostly related to provision of safe drinking water, low voltage problem, shortage of teaching staff at HSS Keerian, fresh BPL survey etc. The burning demand of the people of the area was construction of bridge over Ravi river to facilitate the people as the people of the area has to cover over 45 KMS area to reach district Headquarter Kathua.
The people demanded adequate teaching staff at HSS, Keerian and construction of additional accommodation for the Higher secondary school. The people also demanded regular supply of safe drinking water.
The people apprised the DDC about low voltage problem. Construction of boundary wall of MS Gandyal was also demanded. The people demanded opening of extension counters of banks in the area. Construction of a play ground in the area was also demanded.
The people of Ramnagar demanded up gradation of existing transformer, repair of irrigation khuls and repair of lanes and drains.
The people demanded conducting of fresh survey of BPL lists and inclusion of names of deserving people in the BPL lists. They also demanded mobile school for ST basti.
The DDC listened the problems of the people patiently and directed the district officers to mitigate the problems of the people on priority. Zahida Khan directed the Executive Engineer PDD for mitigating the problems of low voltage in the area.
She directed to install separate transformer for PHE. Responding to the demand of 1100 metre bridge over River Ravi, the Executive Engineer PWD( R&B) apprised the people that a proposal of Rs. 99.60 crores has been submitted for sanction from Central Government under Inter state road connectivity scheme.
Regarding construction of additional accommodation of HSS Keerian, XEN PWD informed that a proposal in this regard has been sent to higher authorities for grant of sanction.
Speaking on the occasion the DDC asked the people to avail maximum benefits from government schemes launched by central as well as state government. Panches and sarpanches of the area also spoke on the occasion and projected various demands and problems.
