AJHLA lauds role of security forces during Amarnath yatra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 15: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association today lauded the role security forces and state administration for the smooth conduct of the Amarnath yatra so far and the help extended to the pilgrims.Addressing a press conference, AJHLA president Inderjeet Khajuria said that security forces including the police has done commendable job since the yatra commenced from June 29. “Besides providing foolproof security to the pilgrims, the army and other security personnel deployed on the duty have allowed smooth conduct of the yatra”, he said. He also appreciated that steps have been taken by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and other concerned authorities to ensure that people who visit the shrine get best of the facilities. However Khajuria flayed high charges fixed for helicopter journey to the shrine, which is Rs. 4850 to and fro via Baltal and Rs. 6850 via Pahalgam, per head. AJHLA has also suggested setting up of camping and halting places for the pilgrims at Lakhanpur, Samba, Udampur, Batote, Ramban and Banihal, with capacity of boarding and lodging of 5000 for night halt, in case of heavy rush or suspension of Yatra due to inclement weather. The association has also suggested that authorities should fully involve the trade bodies connected with tourism and pilgrimage in formulating any policy and decision for smooth conduct of Yatra. Their representative should be co-opted in the committees formed for the purpose. The others who addressed the press conference included Pawan Gupta General Secretary Ajay Gupta, senior vice-president; B S Manhas, vice-president, Sunil Suri, secretary and Baldev treasurer.
