JKDYF protests against price rise, corruption and unemployment | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 16: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Youth Federation (JKDYF) activists held a protest demonstration on price rise, corruption and unemployment at Shopian. Hundreds of JKDYF activists today marched from Town hall to DC office Shopian carrying placards and banners. The demonstrators were shouting slogans against recent rise in prices of diesel, LPG and Kerosene. They were also shouting slogans against corruption and unemployment.
Criticizing the Central government for burdening the common people with increase in the oil prices at a time of high inflation, the State President JKDYF Mohammad Iqbal Wani demanded that the increase in the prices of diesel, LPG and Kerosene be immediate rolled back. Wani urged upon people to strengthen the movement against anti-people policies of the state and central governments.
Advocate Arshid Hussian Baba while addressing the demonstrators said that successive governments in the state have failed to devise a comprehensive policy to effectively deal with growing unemployment problem.
Criticizing the Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Scheme announced by the government he said and added that the scheme has turned out to be a disappointment due to lack of basic infrastructure and sluggishness of the concerned departments. Youth leader Farooq Ahmad said that the tall claims by successive governments of providing a just, responsive and clean administration have become a far distant and unfulfilled dream. Youth leaders Abdul Rashid and Sheeraz Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
