Burn Hall clinches U-16 school cricket trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 16: Burn Hall Public School lifted the Under-16 School Boys’ Cricket Tournament outplaying Delhi Public School (DPS) by 13 runs in the title clash that took place at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here today.
Earlier, Burn Hall won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 165 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Zaid Mohammad was top scorer making unbeaten 55 runs to help his team post a defendable total.
However, later, chasing the target, DPS could not attain the goal despite a brilliant innings played by Abrar. Unfortunately, Abrar’s superb innings of 70 runs gone waste after DPS bowled out for 152 runs in 27.4 overs, short of 13 runs to the needed total.
From Burn Hall, Zamaan Qyoom did the damage to DPS batting line-up claiming three important wickets.
For his unbeaten half century for the winners, Zaid Mohammad was declared man of the match. He was also adjudged man of the series for scoring highest 179 runs and taking eight wickets in the tournament.
In this league-cum-knockout tournament, eight top teams contested for the top honours.
Later, in the prize distribution function, chairman Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). Mohammad Aslam Goni was chief guest, who along with general secretary, Ahsan Mirza, treasurer, Manzoor Ahamd Wazeer distributed prizes in the presence of senior working committee member, Abdul Rauf
