“IITians conduct seminar in Zorawar Singh Auditorium”. | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 16:- An overwhelming response was gathered from Jammu Public by a seminar conducted by IITians in Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. The auditorium was jam-packed by Jammu public. Hundreds of parents accompanied their wards on this counselling event. The event was organized by IIT students, alumni, research scholars and professors of different IITs. Recent years IIT toppers were also present on the occasion to share their tricks and trades with the IIT aspirants. The IITians presented themselves with motivating and brain storming videos, open question answer sessions and ground level interactive discussions. Almost all the problems of a science student aspiring to be an AIIMS doctor or an IIT engineer were provided a miraculous remedy; for e.g. a slow learning capability of a student was solved by using audio-visual graphic techniques and memory loss recovery procedures were discussed. Few serious misconceptions like how to select a teacher/coaching institute were also discussed. “I am very happy that the best brains of the world are reaching this place for the science education gear up. We are very happy to learn some techniques about how to deal with a child who wishes to shape his/her career as a doctor/engineer”, says Rajat Sharma ,a parent present in seminar. The majority of the questions were put forward by the parents. The questions were answered by IIT alumni with real life applications and day to day examples. Some of the ambitious parents got emotional and took to the stage. “Although I am an engineer and not an IITian,I wish my child makes me proud by achieving the fleet of the separate tribe, so called IITians” says Mr. Madhur Gupta who was holding the mike. The seminar was concluded with the announcement of a number of initiatives to expedite the development of IIT culture in the state. ”The response of general public has motivated us to conduct these events on a larger scale. We are working out on innovative and more effective means to prepare students for IIT and AIIMS. Our work will be assumed as done on the day when students from J&k will convert from 5 or 10 IIT selections to 100 or so.” says Ashish , an IIT Roorkee student.
