JD students bring home two coveted awards | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 16: JD Jammu students recreated history by winning awards in two different categories at the JD annual design awards 2011- a full fashion week of 4 days held at Florian Bar –lounge at MGM mall Saket, New Delhi. The garments designed by the the students were based on the theme “Now”. To design the collection the students sough inspiration from all that is current and happening right now. The various participating collections worked on sub-theme like the duality in people, peacock, colors of life, the current situation in Kashmir, the reality shows and breaking news, out of these two groups from Jammu walked home with the prestigious best design and best collection award. The winner group name were Mayura by the student Bharti Chowdhary and Saima Kauser and Naughty & Nice by the students Megha Gupta, Neetu Kamari and Pallvi Bhardwaj The collection designed was reflecting the new trends the young designers will be offering to the Indian fashion industry in the near future. The mentoring of these students was done by the centre director Maansi Gupta. A special recommendation to the collection naughty and nice was also made by famous designer Urvashi Kaur as she handed over the award to them, all the participating collection would be put on display at the JD institute campus for the next 10 days Speaking on the occasion, Maansi Gupta said that it is third year in a row that JD Jammu has brought home this national level honour for the state of Jammu and Kashmir and she further added that the theme this year was an idea to tell the young designers to look beyond the regular & she was pleased with the work of the students. No wonder they sought their internships with some leading design houses. R C Dalal, executive director JD Institute and Raman Gupta, Chaiman, JD Jammu, were also present on the occasion and congratulated the winners.
