| Independence Day preparations afoot in Kathua | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua , July 16: District Development Commissioner, Kathua Zahida Khan today convened a high level meeting of officers to discuss arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day, at Kathua.
SSP, Kathua, J.L. Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria , Assistant Commissioner( Revenue) Vikas Gupta, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, executive engineers of different works departments; district officers including police officers, officers from CRPF, principals of government/private educational institutions were present in the meeting.
It was decided that the main function will be held at district police lines Kathua where the VIP will hoist the National Flag and will take salute at the mega parade.
The contingents will be drawn from CRPF, district police, Forest Protection Force, NCC boys and girls and tiny platoons from Government/private schools.
The day will start with the playing of Shahnai vadan and patriotic songs by Information Department in the wee hours at Deputy Commissioner Office and SSP office, Kathua.
Regarding other arrangements like security, sanitation, sitting, barricading, water and power supply, prize distribution issuance of invitation cards, transportation, and illumination, the DDC has framed committees comprising of district officers to ensure adequate and proper arrangements well in time.
Regarding presentation of cultural programme on the occasion, the DDC directed the Chief Education Officer, Kathua to organize cultural programme with new look and shape with the consultation of educational institutions.
The DDC impressed upon the officers that the day be celebrated with fervor and gaiety. She further emphasized for maintaining close liaison between civil and police for smooth conduct of the function.
It was also decided that the important Government buildings will be illuminated in the night of 15th of August, 2011.
It was also decided that “At Home” will be organized in the evening of Independence Day.
