| 1 killed, 2 hurt as truck falls into gorge near Banihal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 16: A trucker was killed and two others were wounded critically when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Banihal today.
Soon after the truck, which was on its way from Maharashtra to Srinagar, fell into the gorge, Rashtriya Rifles troops of army swung into action and evacuated the three injured persons to Banihal hospital where one of them was declared brought dead by doctors.
Official sources identified the dead as driver Shahbuddin Khan of Alwar, Rajasthan, and the injured as Umer Khan and Bir Mohammad, both residents of Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
The timely RR action, which saved the lives of the two injured, was highly appreciated by civil administration and locals. |
