People and politicians pray for successful Indo-Pak talks | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 17: Notwithstanding the fact that the upcoming talks between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan may not resolve the conflict between the two sides Kashmiri separatists are hopeful that the dialogue was likely to reduce the trust deficit. Kashmiri separatists are of the view that it was totally wrong to expect prolonged issues and problems, that have bedevilled the relations between India and Pakistan, can be resolved in one meeting. A senior Hurriyat Conference leader, Abdul Gani Bhat, favours sustained talks. He said that it was not in the interest of peace in the South Asian region that the two sides resume the process of dialogue after long spells of break. He was supported by his colleague Moulvi Abbas Ansari who wanted the bilateral talks to be held at regular intervals. "No proof the bilateral talks are made a monthly feature" he said adding that once it was done the parleys can be meaningful and result oriented. The PDP leadership wants the two sides not to allow the process of dialogue to get derailed. It says that if India and Pakistan opt for sustained talks it can discourage terrorists and those trying to destabilize peace in the subcontinent. The National Conference leadership is equally hopeful of some progress in removing trust deficit. Its leadership would wish to do anything to keep the dialogue process going. As far as the common people in the state are concerned they want Pakistan to initiate steps that could ensure peace in the subcontinent. They want Kashmir to be free from terrorist violence because there has been enough of bloodshed and destruction in Jammu and Kashmir during the last over 21 years.
