YEGN taps youth potential

Jammu, July 17: To channelize the potential of youth in Surankote area and ensure society building in a focused manner, Youth Employment and Guidance Node (YEGN) was established at Surankote on April13, 2011 under the aegis of Romeo Force by Sector Rashtriya Rifles.

Since its inception, YEGN which is located at the hub of the population centre has left no stones unturned in providing the youth with the much needed guidance. It has a well established library which comprises of wide range of books covering various aspects of employment and job opportunities, books for various competitive examinations and a well established computer laboratory with Internet facility.



The YEGN has been successful in providing a platform for the target population as more than 400 young boys and girls have enrolled themselves with YEGN and have availed the benefits of it.

The story of Wahid Nasar and Kalim Khan is a feather in the cap which has changed the life of Wahid Nasar who has been selected in BSF. Kalim Khan has cleared the written exam for Staff Selection Commission and awaiting his medical test. Many more youth are getting benefit from YEGN.

Shoukat Ali, a 19 years old student said ‘I wanted to read competitive examination books but could not afford these. Here in YEGN, I got access to a vast library which has come as dream come true for me’.

Students like Shoukat Ali are regular visitors and fruitfully utilising the available facilities to prepare themselves for various examinations and Interviews. At YEGN, “I have not only learnt the basics of computer but also the internet facility has enabled me to resolve many queries which were stirring my mind for long,” said Mumtaz Ahmed, a 12th class student and a keen learner.

YEGN has come a long way since its inception and has built good relations with the local youth who are enthusiastically coming forward to join it.
