PATHANIA UNANIMOUSLY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ALL-PARTY TDC | DEGREE COLLEGE STRUGGLE FOR MAJALTA LIKELY TO SPUR UP IN FUTURE. | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Battal (Majalta) 17 July– Congress leader RS Patnamia was unanimously elected chairman All Party Tehsil Development C ommittee Battal today. The elections were held after a stormy session of the TDC with noted social worker Ranjit Singh in chair. Prakash (Block President of NC) and Ramesh Gupta (BJP Vice-mandal President) were chosen as Vice Presidents. Karpal Singh, a social worker as Working President , Raghubir Singh Sarpanch as Secretary-General, Kusum Jasrotia, panch and social worker as Joint Secretary. In addition Uttam Singh (Block President Kissan Cell) was elected Publicity Secretary, Shankar Dass (Block President of BSP) as Office Secretary, Gouri Singh as Cashier. Dr. B.D.Gupta (retd. Deputy Director ISM) was elected as Chairman whereas Sh. S.S Sumbria (President DAHWA) was chosen as Vice Chairman. And, above all, noted retd. I.B.S. officer and former Director Doordarshan and Radio Kashmir Jammu was chosen as Central Advisor and Chain Singh sarpanch and Hem Raj Gupta were chosen as Assisting Advisors. Haji Mohd Din was chosen as coordinator/Secretary. And Kuldip Singh sarpanch, Mohan Lal Sharma sarpanch, Bodh Raj sarpanch, Mohd. Salim sarpanch, Dewan Singh sarpanch, Sharan Singh sarpanch, Rameshwar Sharma, Faleil Singh, Mulkh Raj, Charan dass were the executive members of the all-party committee. It is pertinent to mention here that in the backdrop of omission to open up a degree College at Majalta, a select meeting of all political parties, NGOs, pressure groups and people hailing from a wide cross-section of fields were called and this all-party Committee was given shape. During the meeting, the speakers, cutting across party lines, raised in one voice the demand of a Degree College at Majalta and further vowed to agitate for the same irrespective of their narrow party-level differences. After election as President, Pathania charged that the state government has sanctioned Degree Colleges at less deserving locations.
