AFTER TIGHT VIGIL POLICEMEN LOWER GUARD, IGNORE SECURITY CONCERNS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 17: Four days ago when Mumbai was rocked by serial blasts the senior police officers in Jammu rushed to claim that they have also increased the vigil and set up special security check points and additional naka points have been created to randomly check movement of vehicles and suspected people to prevent any militant strike.
But within days after the blasts took place the tight vigil has been reduced to mere normal policing. Frequency of checking of vehicles has stopped suddenly and number of security check points have come back to normal.
Even the security at the most vulnerable public places such as bus station and railway station has been compromised.
The jawans deployed to man the security check points at the main portico of the railway station do not even bother to remain present in the security pickets and stroll outside, can be seen talking on mobile phones at peak duty hours. The photo attached with the story clearly exposes the fool proof security arrangements at the railway station during night hours. The X-ray luggage scanning machine stop scanning of vehicles during late hours and even the general vigil is compromised.
Railway vendors when asked about the drill of the security personnel present at the railway station said, "the jawans can be seen standing during VVIP movement but the moment they go back the jawans lower their guard and even take naps one after the other while they are present on duty.Only this could explain their long absence, the railway vendors said clarifying for record sake large number of people always remain on guard duty but on ground zero their number is always less than the sanctioned strength.
