Only blue eyed are recruited others neglected
7/17/2011 11:33:17 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 17: National Secular Forum (NSF) today demanded that the State/ Central Government should immediately start academic session in Central University of Jammu and order to hold a Special audit into the financial bungling in the Jammu University.

Activists of National Secular Forum held protest demonstration in the Campus and also the effigy of HRD Minister Kapil Sibal and Vice-Chancellor Varun Shani in front of the fountain plaza of Jammu University and also to show there resentment against delay in coming up academic session in Central University of Jammu and no check accountability in function of Directorate of Distance Education.

Addressing the protesters, NSF president Vikas Sharma said, "Government is playing with the sentiments of the Jammu people. That's why the functioning of Central University of Jammu is being hampered unnecessarily." He added that it’s only Central University of Jammu that was not functioning however; all other Central Universities are blooming.

He further said that there was anarchy in Jammu University but, State Government was least concerned about it. The administrators of University have resorted to open loot and plundering of resources. The University authorities have stopped recruitment of contractual lecturers which is jolt to the educated unemployed youth of the region.
The administration is offering sops only to its blue eyed persons putting the career of others at stake. There is no accountability in the University. Those who are blue eyed are getting PCP classes in DDE and minting money. Whereas, genuine are denied employment opportunity. There is maximum enrollment in English (PG- 2000 and UG-4000), Education (UG-4000), Philosophy (UG-1600), Hindi (PG-2000, UG-1500), Political Science (UG-1200), Sociology (UG-1300, PG-2500) and Urdu (PG-800, UG-400) but, unfortunately DDE doesn't have appropriate teachers for these subjects. For the last two years, the number of the teachers has been curtailed. The subject for whom maximum number of students had been enrolled are without teachers whereas, the subject which had least number of students has teachers.

Last Year, the number of contractual lecture was 9 but this year the same has been reduced to just 3 which are unjust and unfair. It is highly unfortunate that enrolment of student is increasing day by day whereas, employment opportunity was decreasing.

Among those who participated in the protest were Surjit Choudhary, Ravi Choudhary, Shafqat Malik, Sukhdev Singh, Sunny Babber, Parshotam Singh, Ankit, Pardeep Sharma, Rohit Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Manjit and others.
